Irish Shows Association

Each year, Championships are run at various shows throughout the country. Tullamore Show is the culmination of months of hard work and graft. With thanks to the Irish Shows Association and other affiliate shows, the Tullamore Show are proud to host the following:

The Tullamore Show is affiliated to Irish Shows Association (I.S.A.). The Irish Shows Association evolved from a Federation of Show Societies initially formed in 1931.

Membership

Membership of the Association is open to all recognised Agricultural Show Societies throughout the island of Ireland.

Aims and Objectives

  • To promote and assist n the development of Agricultural Shows
  • To act as a negotiating instrument between members and outside bodies
  • To liaise with Government Departments and Agencies in matters affecting members and show exhibitors
  • To organise and oversee annual All Ireland Championships for horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, dogs, horticulture and home industries
  • To publish an annual shows Guide Book and Judges List
  • To provide a group insurance scheme for members
  • To provide an national secretariat and head office for receiving and processing material relevant to members and their interests

Association Structure

For administration purposes Ireland is divided into 5 regions namely

  • Northern
  • Midland
  • Western
  • Eastern
  • Southern

Each region annually elects a chairman and honorary secretary who organise meeting who deal with matters affecting members in that region as well as formulating policy submissions to the executive committee or to the Annual General Meeting of the Association. Each region also elects a number of delegates to act on the National Executive Committee. The Executive Committee (The Board) consists of 27 delegates from the Regions. A national Chairman presides over meetings of the Board where policy matters are implemented and the day-to-day business of the Association is conducted.
