SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR HORSES
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Horse-riding is a dangerous sport. While mounted, all competitors and ride judges are required, for their own safety, to wear appropriate head gear that complies with up to date safety standards and is securely fastened.
The Dun Siog Cup will be presented to the Champion riding horse. Qualifiers for this are first place in lightweight, mediumweight, heavyweight and small hunter.
Champion - €40 Reserve - €25
Champion riding horse will qualify to compete in the overall Champion Horse of the Show held in the large ring at the end of the day.
The ridden classes are to be judged on rideability, manners and conformation. An individual show if required by the judges should not exceed 2 minutes and include walk, trot and canter, a simple change at canter, rein back, strike off on required leg, gallop on, halt and stand still, there will be strong emphasis on manners, rideability, movement and conformation. The judge may ride the horse. Horses should be shown in a snaffle or double bridle and well fitted saddle. Riders should have attained their 16th birthday.
No entries permitted on day of event.
All Classes are subject to a minimum of 5 entries for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd prizes. For Classes with less than 5 entries, 1st prize only will be paid.
